Overview
Administrators may notice that the Configuration tab is missing when logging in to the Archiver console. This article provides a solution to restore access to the missing Configuration tab.
Note that the Administrative configuration access is available only via the legacy configuration (http://<servername>/archiver
); it is not accessible through the new UI (http://<servername>/archiverspa)
.
Diagnosis
Administrators are unable to configure Archiver settings due to not being able to see the Configuration tab. When logged into the web interface with a domain administrator account which should have access to the configuration section of the interface, the Configuration tab is missing. Different browsers, permission settings and environmental variables can be factors to this. See below to access the Configuration tab again.
Solution
You can try the following solutions:
Run your browser in elevated mode
- Right-click on the browser icon
- Select Run as Administrator
- Internet Explorer will launch in elevated mode
- Open the URL: http://serverhostname/Archiver or http://localhost/Archiver (if on the server)
Disable UAC (not recommended)
- Click Start and in the Run... bar type msconfig
- From the Tools tab, choose Disable UAC
- Press the Launch button
- Press OK to close msconfig

- Apply changes and close msconfig

- Press Windows Key+X on your keyboard to display the Tools Menu and select Control Panel. Or, right-click the lower left corner of your monitor to display the Tools Menu and select Control Panel.
- Type UAC in the search field in the upper right corner of the window.
- Click Change User Account Control settings in the search results.
- Then do one of the following:
- To turn UAC off, drag the slider down to Never notify, and click OK.
- To turn UAC on, drag the slider up to the desired level of security, and click OK.
- You may be prompted to confirm your selection or enter an administrator password.
- Reboot your computer for the change to take effect.
Windows 10
- Type UAC in the search field on your taskbar. (If the search field isn't visible, right-click the Start button and choose Search.)
- Click Change User Account Control settings in the search results.
- Then do one of the following:
- To turn UAC off, drag the slider down to Never notify and click OK.
- To turn UAC on, drag the slider up to the desired level of security and click OK.
- You may be prompted to confirm your selection or enter an administrator password.
- Reboot your computer for the change to take effect.
Reset and Re-configure 'Roles and Permissions'
On occasion this is caused by a corrupt configuration file which can be reset to allow default access (Domain Administrators) to be restored and Roles and Permissions can be re-configured after access has been restored.
Review How to reset "Roles and Permissions" article for the procedure to reset.
Review Configuration of Roles and Permissions for Access in Archiver article for the procedure to re-configure.
Log into the server as a local administrator
Local Administrators have full rights to manage the local system, which might sometimes include settings or configurations that are otherwise inaccessible to domain-level administrators due to group policy restrictions, network security policies, or specific server settings.
So, if the server's security settings are configured in such a way that local policies or certain permissions are restricted at the domain level, a Local Administrator account may have additional privileges that would allow access to tabs or settings that a Domain Administrator might not see.
Therefore, try the same steps from the Reset and Re-configure 'Roles and Permissions' section but as a Local Administrator.
Testing
After performing the fixes above Administrators should have access to the Configuration section when accessing the Archiver console via the WebUI.
