Understanding Access Control in GFI Archiver

Overview

This article explains Access Control for GFI Archiver and lists their pre-configured groups that can be used to provide access to other mailboxes.

Introduction

By default, users can browse and search only their own archived items. This prevents users from being able to see mail such as the CEO, HR teams, and only see their personally archived content. At times it may be useful to allow end users to have access to a shared mailbox, team members who are no longer with the company, or group content.

Description

Access Control enables you to grant access to other users’ archived items, either by group or individual users.

The pre-configured groups are listed in the table below:

Option Description
Group
Managers
  • Enables users with a management or supervisory role in your organization to browse and search through archived items of all the users forming part of that group.

User Access Control

  • Enables specific users to browse and search archived items of other users.
    • For example, this feature can be used to grant users access to the archived items of another user that no longer forms part of your company, and whose account was deleted.
Shared Mailboxes
  • Enables a group to access archived items in a specific mailbox.
    • For example, enable all salespersons to have access to sales@mycompany.com.
